Westbroekpark Portraits

Al Borrelli from Images Photoclub organised a big portrait shoot out in the Westbroekpark in the Hague. About 30 members arrived at a nice and sunny Saturday evening. Some brought a very small backdrop, others a model or drinks and food.

Basicly  everybody had to act as a model. I decided to shoot everybody without  smiling with the sun behind their head almost wide open. This gave some interesting colours on the expired Fuji film.  I didn’t bother too much about the white balance. Not everybody will like these portraits but as a series it might work.

  1. Michiel I think that they do work best as a series. I can picture a show with identical presentation prints in a row. Not sure on the rationale for using expired film for a project. You must enjoy the uncertainty!

  2. maybe a technique for the fbi, michiel. they make wonderful mug-shots.

the detail in the faces is now clearly visible, as opposed to the flickr series.

geoff’s thought of identical print would be stunning …….

    keep the ideas coming!

  3. Wow.. they really do look good all together like this. And like Geoff said, I can imagine nice large blow-ups of them on a wall side by side.
Yeah, I can imagine some people not liking the portraits in a selfish way, but as a series/study, it works great.

    Excellent (as usual) Michiel.
