Michiel's Photography

Week 12

I’m in love. With a camera and it’s lens.

I got a great deal on a Linhof Technika 70 with one of the most sought after lenses, the Schneider Xenotar 100/2.8. I never really like the “this is the first picture with my new camera” post, but I just couldn’t resist this time.

These two portraits of Ymke are made with thee Xenotar @ 4.0 on Fuji Neopan 400 in xtol.

Although the Linhof corrects for parralax error and the changing magnification, when getting closer you have to take into account some parallax error as you can see in the second picture. The beauty of this camera is that it will tell you in the vf with a red dot. It also features a level in the viewfinder to get the camera horizontal.

  1. both capture Ymke to a T ! beautifully illuminated and composed.

the sharp and unsharp areas are most interesting; achieved in photoshop or …….; the depth of field cannot be that critical ……..; or camera movements?

    mmmmm,
